Zach Ryan – Director of Finance

Employed by Sublatus Environmental Inc as Chief Financial Officer, Zach is a business professional with 10 years experience in the waste management industry at an executive capacity in both the public and private sectors. Primary areas of expertise include corporate accounting, finance, corporate governance, and general management. An operations focused finance department leader who specializes in growth management, process efficiency, merger and acquisition, and strategic management. Zach has a passion for building and growing business’ that are dually focused on maximizing ethical, environmental, and social standards as well as profits.

Daniel Furgason – Director of Technology

Educated as a physical chemist and spectroscopist, Dan recently retired from the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Lethbridge.  There he taught Physics, Astronomy and Engineering throughout his career.  Dan’s experience extends over a broad range of subject areas from participation in R&D pyrolysis projects, molecular structure and dynamics studies, FTIR, FTIR-VCD, and many other analytical and instrumentation techniques.   As a founding member of Hourglass Environmental Dan has taken on the role of Director of Technology and is currently organizing their initial technical program for vetting and implementing HTP processes from lab scale to pilot plant. 

Garett Furgason –  Director of Administration

Currently, Garett works at Sublatus Environmental Inc. as an administrator and moving shortly into the role of overseeing sustainability and process improvement.   Garett possesses 7 years’ experience in the industrial waste management industry leading business performance initiatives. He obtained his Master of Arts in Responsible Management from Steinbeis Hochshule in Berlin, Germany and has a strong background in sustainability and ESG-related topics. Garett also has several years’ experience managing back-office functions including human resources, payroll and software implementation to support operational improvements.  

Gerald Feschuk – Director of Regulatory Affairs

Leadership roles at both the Government of Alberta and the Alberta Energy Regulator. Technical roles as authorizations manager, industrial engineer and investigator. Key player in development of environmental legislation and standup of the AER.  In addition, Gerald has 20 years of relevant industry experience in an array of roles in field and head office settings.  Executive leadership in energy transition (net-zero) hydrogen, CCUS, regulatory oversight, compliance, liability & risk management, environmental remediation, staff leadership, business development, liaison with Indigenous Peoples and government & stakeholders, environmental and petroleum engineering.

Dale Leier – Director of Business Development

Retired Air Traffic Controller and serial entrepreneur.  Operated an office for Investors Group as a financial advisor, co-founded the Western Universities Technology Innovation Fund, employed by AXYS Technologies Inc. – a manufacturer of environmental monitoring and SCADA technology – in the capacity of International Sales and Marketing Manager.  While there, conceived and developed the Wind Sentinel for offshore wind bankability assessment.  For the past 2 years consulted on Renewable Natural Gas projects in Southern Alberta.   Attended University of Lethbridge (marketing), Royal Roads University (Business), Queens University (MBA) programs.  Employed by Lethbridge Economic Development.
